The problem
The Local by Masrawy is a cafe in Mississauga. It wanted its own app, where regulars could order ahead, pay and earn rewards, without asking staff to learn a new till.
The cafe already ran on Clover. Any app had to fit around that, and it had to be ready for a second branch without being rebuilt.
How we approached it
We kept Clover as the source of truth for menu items and prices, and synced our copy from it. The cafe adds photos, descriptions and the order of items on the menu in its own admin, and the sync never overwrites them.
We gave each job its own tool. Customers use the phone app. The cafe side has three tools: an app on the Clover device where staff scan member codes, a tablet where staff accept online orders, and a web admin where the owner runs menus, rewards and campaigns. Every record carries its branch, so a second location joins the same system instead of needing a new app.
What we built
One app for regulars, plus the tools the cafe uses to run it.
Ordering ahead: Members browse the live menu, build a cart and schedule a pickup time. Staff accept the order on the cafe tablet and it prints through Clover.

The menu, and a drink being set up the way the customer likes it.
Checkout: Members pay by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay, add a tip, or pay from a prepaid balance they top up in the app.

The cart, and checkout paying with points the customer has already earned.
Rewards: Members earn ten points per dollar, plus a welcome bonus when they sign up, and spend points on menu items. In the cafe, staff scan the member's code on Clover so walk-in purchases count too.

The rewards screen. Each purchase adds points toward the next cup.
What it's built with
- iPhone and Android app: Where regulars order ahead, pay and collect points.
- Card, Apple Pay and Google Pay: Takes payment for orders and wallet top ups, through Stripe.
- Clover till connection: Keeps the menu and prices in step with the till, and lets staff scan a member's code at the counter.
- Staff tablet and web admin: Staff accept online orders, and the owner edits the menu, rewards and promotions.
- Apple Wallet member card: Keeps the member card in Apple Wallet, ready to scan at the counter.
